On December 23rd, 2017, the School of Life Sciences and Medicine of USTC was founded and Anhui provincial hospital became the First Affiliated Hospital of University of Science and Technology of China. On the same day, the School of Clinical Medicine, an important section of the School of Life Sciences and Medicine, was listed in the southern district of the First Affiliated Hospital, the second-stage of which officially opened at the same time.
On the morning of 23rd, the People's Government of Anhui Province, National Health and Family Planning Commission and the Chinese Academy of Sciences jointly held the founding congress of the School of Life Sciences and Medicine of University of Science and Technology of China in the east campus. Academician BAO Xinhe, Principal of University of Science and Technology of China, Academician HAN Qide, Vice chairman of the CPPCC National Committee and director of the Advisory Committee of the School of Life Sciences and Medicine of University of Science and Technology of China, attended and gave the speech.

Having a first-rate medical school is a common feature of the world's first-rate universities. First class hospitals also need the support of first class universities and medical disciplines. USTC and Anhui Provincial Hospital have been constantly strengthening cooperation and communication.
The research on basic medicine of University of Science and Technology of China has a good foundation. Its "Clinical medicine" has entered the first 1% disciplines of Essential Science Indicators (ESI) in the world, and the citations of each paper (14.02) which rank the first place in China are beyond the world average level (12.50). Basic medical research has advantages of science and engineering integration, and support of scientific installation platform. Meanwhile, it has distinct characteristics in medical research direction, and has good research foundation and platform conditions in specific diseases (neurodegenerative diseases, reproduction, cancer and so on).
Anhui Provincial Hospital is a large Grade ⅢA comprehensive hospital with a history of 119 years. It has the largest scale in Anhui province and ranks the top ten place in China. It is the bellwether of the medical and health development in Anhui.

In March 2012, a bilateral comprehensive strategic cooperation framework agreement was signed, and the alliance of transformation and application of cutting-edge biological disciplines, basic medical research and clinical medicine was also established. In the past few years, the two sides have been cooperating in the field of tumor immunotherapy, brain science and research, artificial intelligence auxiliary therapy and so on. Since September 2017, quicken the steps of promoting cooperation, both sides reached a consensus on cooperation and reported to the Anhui Provincial Government, the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the National Health and Family Planning Commission, which received strong support. At the same time, much credit was given to iFLYTEK from USTC in the birth of the School of Life Sciences and Medicine according to HAN Qide, whose pioneering artificial database guides and boosts the precision of medical science.
