USTC, founded in 1958, is one of the most prestigious universities in China and the only university supported by both the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and the Chinese Ministry of Education (MOE). USTC invites applications and nominations from outstanding scholars of all nationalities for faculty positions at all ranks with full-time or part-time arrangements.

Full-time positions include full professor, associate professor, assistant professor, and post-doctoral researcher. Candidates with remarkably strong academic backgrounds are encouraged to apply for professorship of the recruitment programs. Part-time positions are available for world-class scholars, who will spend their sabbatical time undertaking research at USTC.

Establishment of frontier disciplines that are currently absent or preliminary in USTC is especially encouraged. Also advocated are multidisciplinary approaches that fertilize innovation.

Thousand Talents Program: Type A
This program aims at recruiting world-class scholars under 55 as full-time Professors at USTC. Applicants should have worked either as professors or in equivalent positions in world-renowned universities or research institutions.

Thousand Young Talents Program hot
This is one type of “Thousand Talents Program” especially for young scholars under 40. Applicants should have obtained a doctoral degree in a world-renowned overseas university, and have no less than three years of overseas research experience. Applicants, who received a doctoral degree in mainland China, should have no less than five years of overseas research experience after obtaining the degree. Special offers are granted to those who have made remarkable research achievements in their doctoral studies or in other areas.

Thousand Talents Program for Non-Chinese Experts
This program is designed for world-class scholars of non-Chinese ethnicity. The candidate should have worked as full professor or in an equivalent position at a world-renowned university or research institution, age under 65, highly visible in the form of recent publications on top journals, field-significant awards and prizes, scarce lab skills, etc.

Hundred Talents Program of Chinese Academy of Science hot
Applicants should be Chinese scholars under 40. Applicants must have over four consecutive years of overseas research experience after obtaining a doctoral degree.

Changjiang Scholars Program of Ministry of Education of China –Distinguished Professor
The applicant should be under 45 years old if in a field of natural sciences, and under 50 in a field of humanities and social sciences.

This position and title is designed for heavy figures that are highly influential in their research fields, and are interested in long-term collaborations with USTC through short term visits. They are expected to build up international connections for USTC with prestigious overseas research institutions, and expand the global vision and visibility of USTC.

Master Chair Professor (II)
This position and title is designed for heavy figures that are highly influential in their research fields, and are interested in long-term collaborations with USTC through short-term visits. They are expected to initiate and lead projects that involves USTC scholars/students and provide critical leadership to the project team.

Changjiang Scholars Program of Ministry of Education of China –Chair Professor
The applicant should be under 45 years old if in a field of natural sciences, and under 50 in a field of humanities and social sciences.
