Cameron and Jia Jia Together Lookout 2017 at UBS Conference

    Jia Jia, the interactive “robot goddess” developed by the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC), had a spectacular conversation with former British Prime Minister Cameron at the opening of the 17th United Bank of Switzerland (UBS) Greater China Conference, held in Shanghai.

    About 2000 delegates attended the congress including ZHU Min, former Vice President of the International Monetary Fund, and FAN Gang, Vice President of the China Society for Economic Restructuring.

    After the opening ceremony, the most interesting scene staged - Cameron had a face to face dialogue with Jia Jia and expressed his great concern, interest and enthusiasm for the rapid progress of China's robot technology represented by her. He also asked professor CHEN Xiaoping, director of the Robotics Laboratory of the university of Science and Technology of China, about main functions, technical characteristics, design process and R & D process of Jia Jia. Later, Cameron and Chen Xiaoping, Wei Baying, the President of this forum took a photo with Jia Jia to reflect the conference theme—“Human and smart machine together lookout 2017”

    After more than two months of research and development, Jia Jia demonstrated the new progress of her three core technologies—expression search engine, understanding context and reasoning. This was her first appearance in public since the World Robot Congress in Beijing in October 2016 and she soon became the highlight.

    Professor Chen Xiaoping and Davis Rowan, editor-in-chief of “Connection” hold a seminar entitled "Re-launch Technology - Artificial Intelligence and Robots" to discuss the opportunities and challenges faced by AI and the future development of robotics industry in the face of all the participants.

    Professor Chen Xiaoping and Jia Jia also attended the media meeting .Jia Jia, the smart robot answered a number of questions raised by reporters by herself. Her excellent performance attracted great interest and appreciation of journalists.

    Chen Xiaoping said that Jia Jia was still in the research and development stage and not a mature product yet.But a breakthrough in the industrialization is expected to be achieved in the next 2-3 years.
